Pole Barn Builders in Winona

Winona's code sends a building applicant to the mayor. Its Sec. 6-46 says every person desiring to erect, alter, or repair buildings in the city "shall apply to the mayor of the city and obtain a permit for such work before proceeding therewith". It does not mention a pole barn, so this site states no rule for one in Winona.

Pole Barn Builders around Winona

The section (read October 8, 2026) is on Municode, the code publisher the City's own site links to as "City Ordinances". It adds that "Such work shall be subject to inspection by the mayor or any official designated by the city council at all times." Municode dates the edition it shows as April 25, 2013, so a later ordinance may have changed the section. It does not mention a pole barn.

The page does not mention a pole barn, so what follows is our inference, not a rule: the section covers any person erecting, altering or repairing buildings, and a pole barn is a building, so a person planning one in Winona has a reason to ask city hall whether the section applies, and whether it has changed since the edition Municode shows, before choosing a site. We say nothing about any lot.

Permits and the City of Winona rules

The City of Winona's Code of Ordinances, Sec. 6-46, says a person erecting, altering or repairing buildings applies to the mayor for a permit before proceeding. It does not mention a pole barn, and we do not say what a pole barn needs.
